NEW DELHI(Commodity Online): National Power Training Institute (NPTI) will train 700,000 people in the next three years, according to Piyush Goyal,Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Coal, Power & Renewable Energy.
In the current year, the NPTI has trained about 18,700 people in various skills related to the power sector, the Minister added. NPTI is India’s national apex body for training and human resources development in power sector.

As against a total of 267, 000 people trained by the organization in the last 40 years of its existence, we are looking at training 100,000 people in the year 2015-2016, 200,000 people in the year 2016-17 and 400,000 people in the year 2017-2018, said the minister.

He said, “We are looking at using the last year of the services of JCOs and below to train all these people in the armed forces like artillery, logistics, tanks, drivers for big vehicles, army medical core and so forth. If they don’t want to come out as trainers, they can come out as entrepreneurs.”

The free Study Abroad Information Session for students during One Globe Knowledge Conference 2015 saw participation from 26 schools and colleges from across the country. Students from Delhi Public School, Shriram School, Modern School, Delhi University, IP University, Jamia Millia Islamia amongst others attended the informative session. In a competition organised by BrainGain Magazine as part of the study abroad session, Sonia Singh, a student of Vidyagyan School, Delhi, won an iPad Mini. The award was handed out by Singh.
