Meera T. Gandhi is a well-known humanitarian who divides her time between New York City, London, Mumbai and Hong Kong. She is the founder and CEO of The Giving Back Foundation. Meera Gandhi is noted for her Life Motto, "We are to the universe only as much as we give back to it."
Meera Gandhi is the daughter of an Irish mother, Ellen Mary McCarthy of Dublin, and an Indian father, Admiral Perbodh Nath Agarwal from U.P., India. She was born in Mumbai, India.. She grew up and was educated in India, the UK, Canada and the United States, where she received her MBA from Boston University. In 2011 she received the Distinguished Alumni Award from Boston University, its highest honor. Meera Gandhi completed the Executive Education Program from the Harvard Business School in December of 2007.
She has received numerous awards, including person of the year in 2010 from the Wayuu Taya Foundation, and honoree of the year from One To World, Fulbright in 2007. In 2011 Donna Karan International named her as one of its prestigious “Women Who Inspire.”
Through her Giving Back Foundation, Meera Gandhi is devoting her life to charity and to helping those in need: abused and hungry children, widows, the sick, the deaf and blind. She is particularly interested in education as the stepping stone to success. She recently produced and directed a short documentary film, a musical CD and coffee-table book, all entitled Giving Back. In the words of Kerry Kennedy, "Meera Gandhi is one of those remarkable women whom the angels must have sent to teach us a lesson on how to conduct a fruitful life.”
