Minister of State for External Affairs, Government of India
Preneet Kaur represents the Patiala constituency and is currently serving as Minister of State for External Affairs. She was born in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh and attended St. Bede's College, Shimla and graduated from Convent of Jesus and Mary, Shimla. She was first elected in 1999, and re-lected in 2004, 2009 from the Patiala constituency. She defeated rival Prem Singh Chandumajra of the Akali Dal by over 99,000 votes becoming the only Member of Parliament to be elected for three consecutive terms. Prior to her political career she volunteers with the Indian Red Cross. She started Sanjeevani, an institute in Patiala for differently abled children.
