Professor Sanjay Govind Dhande has recently completed an illustrious tenure as Director of IIT Kanpur. During his directorship, IIT Kanpur rose to a pre-eminent position not only in India but also at the international level.

Professor Dhande is also a founder of Indian Institute of Information Technology, Jabalpur and Indian Institute of Technology, Rajasthan. He has been a member of the Scientific Advisory Council to the Prime Minister of India.

Presently, he is a member of the National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council as well as the National Innovation Council. Professor Dhande is also a member of the International Academic Advisory Panel of the Government of Singapore. He has taught in the departments of Mechanical Engineering as well as Computer Science & Engineering at IIT Kanpur.

He is a Fellow of Indian National Academy of Engineering and several other academic bodies in India as well as abroad.

He has been honoured with the Padma Shri award in the year 2013.
