Director, Urban Development and Sustainable Urbanization, Director at MTA, NYC and resource faculty at MIT and NYU
Projjal K. Dutta is the NYC's Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s (MTA) first ever Director of Sustainability. His role is to reduce the environmental footprint of the MTA and to verifiably measure the substantive carbon benefits that accrue as a result.
Mr Dutta teaches and lectures at campuses around the US including Harvard, Yale, and Columbia on the topic of sustainability, transportation and urbanization.
He is a published author and a regular contributor to leading print and digital publications focused on the environment. His work is regularly cited in the New York Times, NPR and other outlets.
Mr Dutta is also a founder and partner of one of the foremost contemporary South Asian galleries globally, “Aicon”, based in NYC.
Mr Dutta has more than twenty years of experience in projects ranging in scale from urban to residential, with a particular emphasis on sustainable design. Before joining the MTA, he worked as a sustainable architecture consultant. His built projects have been featured in publications in the U.S. and abroad.
