Editor, Mint
Sukumar Ranganathan is editor of Mint and MintAsia. He has degrees in chemical engineering, math, business administration and held senior positions at the Hindu Business Line and Business Today before joining HT Media as part of the start-up team at Mint, which was launched in February 2007. He was named editor in late 2008.
In his tenure as editor, Mint has won three Ramnath Goenka awards (India’s highest journalistic prize), five Society of Publishers of Asia awards (Asia’s highest journalistic prize), including four awards for excellence, and five IFRA design awards. Mint was named Global Business Media of the year in 2012 by Media Tenor.
Mr Ranganathan has overseen the transformation of the Mint newsroom into an integrated one, offering news, views, analysis, and multimedia across the paper, the website livemint.com, and apps. He also conceptualised and launched MintAsia, a weekly news-magazine on the Indian economy and business that is published out of Singapore. Mr Ranganathan has an enduring interest in the history of business, technology and business strategy. He reads and collects comic books and is an amateur birder.
