Dr. Pushkar is an Assistant Professor with the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at BITS Pilani-Goa. He has previously taught at universities in Canada and India, as Lecturer in Development Studies, McGill University; and Lecturer in Political Science, Concordia University (both in Montreal, Canada); and at the Centre for Latin American Studies, Goa University (Goa, India). His teaching and research interests lie in the broad areas of development studies; public health and health policy; higher education in India; comparative politics and development; religion and politics; ethnicity, democracy, and welfare; and Latin America (especially Chile and Brazil) and South Asia (especially India).

Pushkar is the co-author of  Forbes India listed Pushkar as one of India’s 24 thinkers “who best explain a rapidly-changing India to the world (and the world to India).”

Pushkar holds a PhD in Political Science from McGill University with concentration in Comparative Politics and International Relations. Earlier, he studied at St. Stephen’s College (Delhi), where he obtained a BA (honours) in History, followed by MA and MPhil degrees in International Relations/Politics at the School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University (New Delhi).
