Ramesh Verma is president of first Indian chapter of the global VR/AR Association. VRARA is the largest and most influential VR/AR/XR association, with over 20 Industry Committees and 50 chapters worldwide, developing and sharing best practices, guidelines and standards for the booming virtual reality and augmented reality industry.
A passionate, result-oriented technology evangelist, innovator and social entrepreneur, Mr Verma has more than four decadesof entrepreneurial and techno-managerial international experience in the fields of ICT and Skills Development, focused on IT for the masses.
Some of his key initiatives include setting up the first offshore software products development centre (1979), major contributions in developing middleware for computers to work in Indian languages (1989-2000), and developing low-cost, low-bandwidth virtual classrooms and conferencing solutions (2001).
For the last several years, his focus has been on developing skills and livelihoods, particularly for the rural and agribusiness sector. He has adopted a bottom-up approach, working with rural communities and developing path-breaking technological solutions.
He has worked as Chief of Strategic Alliances for Training & Employability Solutions at Reliance Communications and Future Sharp Skills Ltd, a joint initiative of the National Skill Development Corporation and the Future Group.
Mr. Verma is an alumnus of IIT Delhi, and has a postgraduate degree in Business Studies from the UK.
