Shashi Banerjee Principal

The founding principal of an institution with a ‘learner-centred’ approach, Ms. Shashi Banerjee plays the role of a curator and a craftsman in helping build and nurture an environment conducive to multiple learning styles and responsive to diverse learning needs. Empowering each learner to evolve as a transformative leader is a mission she shares with the school team.

She holds a Master’s degree in Education, English Language and the Teaching of Language (through Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages), and is a graduate in Sanskrit and Hindi. She also has a Master’s in Indian Classical Vocal Music and Indian Classical Dance, and is a recipient of the National Cultural Talent Scholarship from the Government of India. Ms. Banerjee was initiated into the world of School Leadership by her mentor Sister Jaycinth, the Head of the Sophia Educational Institutions, North India.

Ms Banerjee’s teaching experience spans almost 3 decades and several age groups. During the past 12 years as a school leader, she forged interschool relationships across India and also with schools in Singapore, Norway, and Britain, through collaborative programmes such as UKIERI (United Kingdom India Education and Research Initiatives).

A volunteer with the SPIC MACAY movement, she conducts orientation sessions on culture for students in colleges in Delhi and the National Capital Region, and represents the movement on panel discussions on television and the radio.

An elected member of the governing body of the Alliance Française de Delhi, she plays an active role in building bridges with schools that engage in the teaching of French as a foreign language.

She also writes on education in magazines and journals in India.
